To celebrate the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, I collaborated with another Paramount+ designer on a retention marketing email newsletter supporting the milestone. While the overall email layout was designed in Figma by my teammate, I was responsible for creating the key visual elements that set the tone and energy of the campaign.
My contributions included designing the hero artwork, supporting banner graphics, and an animated GIF using Photoshop. The goal was to capture SpongeBob’s iconic personality and playful spirit while ensuring the visuals felt celebratory, bold, and instantly recognizable to fans across generations.
A major challenge in this project was designing animation for a retention marketing email while adhering to strict technical constraints. Animated GIFs for email require careful optimization to keep file sizes under the 2MB limit without sacrificing visual quality or motion impact. This required thoughtful planning around frame count, timing, color usage, and export settings to achieve smooth, engaging animation that remained lightweight and email-safe.
The final newsletter successfully balanced nostalgia, motion, and performance, enhancing the anniversary messaging while maintaining compatibility across email clients and devices. This project highlights my ability to collaborate cross-functionally, design within technical limitations, and deliver engaging visual storytelling for large-scale brand moments.
